Testfabrics, Inc. is pleased to have a booth once again
at this conference. Ms. Hilary Gifford, Surface Design consultant
for Testfabrics, Inc. is here to discuss your needs for
textile products and services from Testfabrics, Inc.
For those of you not familiar
with our firm, please let us introduce ourselves to you.
Testfabrics, Inc. is a 60+ year old specialty textile manufacturer
and converter with a long history of supplying prepared
for print and dye textiles. We were discovered by surface
design artisans as a valuable resource in the late 1960’s
and have been actively working with them ever since. While
our base business roots are industrial in nature, there
are many products and services we provide that have considerable
value to our artistic clients.
We stock textile piece goods that are desized, scoured,
bleached (and unbleached), mercerized and without any additional
surface applied chemicals such as resins, softeners or dyes.
We stock piece goods from all the major fiber types. Our
primary clientele are the manufacturers of textiles dyes
and process chemicals and they rely exclusively on Testfabrics
to supply them with these materials for use in their daily
production of textile dyes and chemicals. The worst thing
we can do for them is to ‘change’. (Unfortunately,
it does happen from time to time.) Changing the substrate
in an evaluation of chemical is always a major issue in
their procedures. Several of our products are established
ISO (Int’l Reference Standards) fabrics for use in
high level industrial testing protocols affecting the production
of millions of yards/meters of textiles worldwide. Hence,
you will see many of the same fabrics still in our line
as you did 10, 20 and 30 years ago.
We also make some interesting ‘test materials’,
most notably multifiber fabrics used to evaluate colorfastness
of dyes, dyed and printed fabrics and anything produced
using a finished textile as a component where colorfastness
quality assurance is required. These same products are of
use to hand dyers to give them a good sense of the colors
their formulations may produce on other substrates. Hilary
has samples of our multifiber fabric #49 to distribute if
you are interested. It is a 4” wide ribbon containing
1.5 cm wide stripes of acetate, cotton, nylon, polyester,
silk, viscose and wool. As soon as production schedules
allow, we will be producing a similar all natural fiber
strip multifiber fabric as well.
We are textile problem solvers. Having been actively involved
in the textile industry at many levels allows us access
to a lot of potential resources. We provide many textile
services in processing, custom dyeing, pre-treatment of
goods for digital printing etc. We also source textile materials
on special order.
We have recently added some new polyester fabrics for people
doing heat shrinking, transfer printing and other artistic
applications, Hilary has some samples of these if you are
interested.
We have expanded our line of silk fabrics to include and
organza and chiffon as well as more fabrics for discharge
procedures. We also have extra wide cotton percale, 108”,
bleached.
Please contact us with any questions, sourcing inquiries
etc, we welcome the challenge.
We have a new swatch book in a 3 ring binder format for
your review and purchase, you can purchase individual sheets
as well.
As many of you probably know, we have converted to the metric
system to keep pace in the global economy. Hilary has some
complimentary conversion tape measures to help drag you
into the 21st century too!
Enjoy the conference and we look forward to hearing from
you.
Sincerely,
Tom Klaas
