Testfabrics, Inc.’s business is
generated from its abilities to service the combined needs
of groups of clients that have common interests and requirements
for the firm’s products and services.
From its earliest history, Testfabrics, Inc. has had close
affiliations with professional associations whose members
comprise the core clientele it services. Without our interaction
with the participants in these associations, the opportunity
to maintain contact with these important clients would be
much more difficult, almost impossible.

American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists
The members of this important association were the initial
clientele whose needs for textile testing materials for their
newly developed quality assurance testing procedures for dyes,
auxiliary processing chemicals and finished textile fabrics
provided the initial impetus for Testfabrics, Inc.’s
business existence. Since 1935, Testfabrics, Inc. has been
closely aligned with this group and continues to be active
in its committees as well as an annual participant in its
International Conference and Exhibition.
Several AATCC methods specifically require specialty textile
materials the firm produces and distributes worldwide. These
include the multifiber adjacent fabric adopted by AATCC in
1940 as well as the products descended from that initial ‘test-fabric’
and many other related materials.
Today, Testfabrics, Inc. also distributes the many quality
assurance materials from AATCC in addition to its line of
specialty test materials.

ISO TC 38 (Textiles) Subcommittee 1 and 2 Tests for dyes and
processing chemicals and finished textiles.
Since reconvening official ISO activities in the early 1950’s,
Testfabrics, Inc. personnel have been invited participants
in these important committee meetings. Several of the firm’s
products are recognized as Reference Standard Test Materials
whose ISO documentation was directly taken from the firm’s
production records. Testfabrics, Inc. personnel continue to
participate in the activities of these groups to help provide
expertise in maintaining their standard methods for worldwide
applications.

ASTM: American Society for Testing Methods
ASTM D13 (Textiles) members and those using ASTM methods have
been ongoing consumers serviced by Testfabrics, Inc. For many
years, ASTM test methods overlapped some of those from AATCC
until the two groups came to an agreement as to which group
was responsible for their respective industry test methods.
With the emphasis on the physical aspects of textile testing
and component and end product evaluations, ASTM methods still
require several materials and products from Testfabrics, Inc.
Testfabrics, Inc. personnel and its related industry consultants
participate in D13 meetings routinely to keep these necessary
channels of communication open.
ASTM D 12 (Detergents) members are also an integral group
of clients serviced by Testfabrics, Inc. The firm maintains
an active presence with this important committee and its activities.
Several other ASTM committee members from various committees
including Vacuum Cleaners, Leather, Paper, Adhesives etc.
also make use of the firm’s products and services.

AOCS: American Oil Chemists Society
The AOCS services the industries associated with vegetable
oils including the oleo-chemical products industries encompassing
surfactants and detergents. For the past twenty years, Testfabrics,
Inc. has participated in its annual technical conference and
exhibition as it draws the detergent industry formulators
and their suppliers, important client groups serviced by the
firm.

IFAI/SAE Transportation Committee
This important committee brings together the automotive industry
producers and consumers of interior and exterior trim products,
textiles, plastics and related materials. With the increasing
trend to harmonizing industry test methods and the globalization
of sourcing and manufacturing, Testfabrics, Inc. has a growing
presence in helping these industries achieve these goals.
Our expert consultants attend these important meetings to
help keep us informed of their needs for our products and
services.

UFAC: Upholstered Furniture Action Committee
This furniture industry group provides needed, independent
flammability guidelines for the furniture and upholstery manufacturers
and their consumers. Testfabrics, Inc. provides necessary,
standard test materials to their laboratories to help them
comply with these regulations. We participate directly with
their technical committee meetings and their educational and
information sharing seminars.

AIC: American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic
Works
Testfabrics, Inc. is active in this Institute’s specialty
groups and often exhibits at their annual meetings.

ITAA: International Textile and Apparel Association
This influential group of textile and home economics educators
and professionals are at the core of university textile education
programs. Testfabrics, Inc. has serviced the needs of textile
and home economics educators since the firm’s inception
60+ years ago.

SDA: Surface Design Association

a collective voice for the talents of many, widespread textile
art professionals. Testfabrics, Inc. wholeheartedly supports
their activities, their journal and conferences.
